Outpatient Appointments Dataset (OPDW)

The Outpatient Appointments Dataset (OPDW) comprises records for all Outpatient Clinic appointments booked in NHS hospitals in Wales and appointments at English NHS providers for individuals usually resident in Wales. It includes new and follow-up consultant-led and nurse-led activity (excluding community nurse clinics). The dataset includes records for appointments attended, not attended and cancelled. It includes source and priority of referral and treatment specialty, but the recording of clinical information (ICD-10 codes) is limited. Codes such as referral source and outcome of appointment are recorded using a standard coding frame which is specific to Wales, established and maintained by NWIS. The dataset is at an individual level comprising of approximately 1,000,000 records per year spanning the years 2009 to June 2016.
